Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued to review all material covered previously and introduced new vocabulary through the use of a written story. She should practice her vocabulary and color her notebook/ story. She was focused for most of the time and engaged in the activities."
"Today, the student and I spent a great deal of time talking about music, musicality, dance and movement, as it is highly relevant to his profession. We also spent time discussion common situations and conversations, such as shopping, receiving and sending mail, academia, weather and climate. He did not appear to be struggling, but we did discuss the importance of keeping a notebook in order to track progress and address areas of interest or concern. I, too, keep a notebook that I use to plan sessions, list key topics and track overall progress. Again, his attitude was superb. Prior to ending our two hour session, I recommended a few books that he could purchase at a relatively low cost that could serve as extra practice and further clarification."
"The student was very talkative and recalled the material from last week without much prompting. We reviewed the lesson from the last session, and began learning the conjugations of "comer," "beber," and "cocinar." The vocabulary for this week was concerning food and the kitchen. She understood the material presented to her easily. I had originally planned to give her a writing assignment for homework but, as she did not finish the crossword puzzle we began working on in the session, I told her she could do that for homework instead."
"During this session, we worked on the verb tener (to have) again. We worked on conjugating the verb and using it with expressions, such as to have hunger, thirst, and fear. We then reviewed animal vocabulary, family vocabulary, and we learned new clothing vocabulary. We then practiced describing the colors of animals and clothes and talking about where animals live."
"The student and I reviewed his Spanish homework on irregular preterite verbs and began the comprehension check for chapter 7 of The Great Gatsby. Next session, we will begin preparation for his in-class essay on The Great Gatsby."
"We worked through some mini conversations using phrases/expressions common in the first seconds of meeting someone and covered some basic questions/answers. We then moved on to going over prepositions of location with estar."
