Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we studied for the student's upcoming world history midterm. We studied from a review sheet and went over a number of terms and questions from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution."
"Discussion points included Nationalism as it related to China, Russia, and India in the early 1900s. Specific leaders were discussed such as Stalin, Gandhi, and Mao, along with their differences and similarities in their leadership styles."
"The student and I discussed his Thursday night homework involving The Crusades and the power of the Christian Church. We also got back his World History Test from last week. He got a 76 on that test. This is the first test he has passed of the semester so far, and he scored much higher than the class average, so I see a big improvement. He also started a Document Based Question for World History. He is also now passing literature."
"The student and I reviewed some chi-square tables, and she has certainly increased her knowledge of how to interpret them."
"First, I had gotten to know the client to get familiar with their needs and their goals. He's driven to learn in order to be as conversational as his daughter and is really excited to learn. After reviewing his needs, I suggested a few study materials to assist him in his learning. Since he said that he was a visual learner, I suggested that he download a language app which he can use to practice daily. I also recommended a workbook which condenses core materials in an easily understandable structure. With those as starting points, I asked him to review the verbs ser and estar to create a basis for the foundation of understanding the differences between the two terms. He seems very eager to learn which is always a win! For the level of Spanish that he's trying to attain in the small amount of time allotted, I did suggest that he look into starting off with a basic Spanish course at the local community college."
"We focused on probability, factions and cost/ tax word problems in the first half of the session since it seemed to be one of the more difficult sections of the exam. Then, in the second half of the session we focused upon probability problems and ratio word problems which show up frequently on the exam as well. Overall, it was a productive session and we primarily focused on the math portion of the test."
