Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered dimensional analysis and solving the empirical/molecular formula. We went over a study guide. Overall, I think she understands the main concepts and with a little bit more practice she should do well on her exam."
"We covered DNA replication, bacterial DNA, transposition, mutations, etc. The student struggled most with defining terms and bacterial conjunction. The student's attitude towards material was positive and attentive. I gave strategies for studying, like to study diagrams of processes, don't just read the words and try to answer the question; make sure you know the definition of the words first, so look up terms that confuse you and find, redraw, and study diagrams of difficult material. Extra practice is to go through problems one by one and unfold them so you can really understand the material."
"We covered Doppler shift, simple harmonic motion, and the relationship between periods, frequency, and speed. The student struggled with Doppler shift the most. The student seemed interested in the subject. I recommended that she search YouTube for a video on Doppler shifts so that she could get a better visual representation of the concept than what I could provide during the session. I am not very concerned from this session as she seems to have a firm grasp of the concepts, and I think she should do well on her test Wednesday."
"We covered electrolytes, solubility, redox states, and balancing redox reactions. The student finds that her teacher in class is moving too quickly, which is her main struggle. She asked great questions and seemed to grasp the concepts as we moved along. We did some extra practice problems, and I made reference notes so that she can use them throughout the week."
"We covered electron configuration/dot configuration, as well as basic equations. The student mostly struggled with the equations, but caught onto the electron configuration quite fast. The student listens well, is bright, and is willing to learn. He is receptive to instruction. I left the student with some key points/notes that he should focus on for his quiz."
"We covered empirical formulas and percent mass formulas, as well as some equation balancing. The student struggled most with performing the calculations thoroughly - he made some calculating mistakes. He seemed to understand things well once I explained them to him. He has his own worksheets for practice."
