Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on algebra questions, including equations. He did really well! He needs to pay attention to PEMDAS and make sure that even while going fast he checks his work, but otherwise it was a good question set. He also took a practice verbal session, and got 37/60 (pre test was 18). 12 questions were unanswered, but that score is very good for where we are currently at with studying."
"We worked on verbal and quantitative sections and I set the student up with vocabulary words as homework. The student requested harder math questions on certain standardized types and they showed a sign of improvement in the verbal section."
"The student and I focused on grammar today and started a tutorial on sentence corrections. We went over the use of definite and indefinite articles. We discussed what these articles did in a sentence and practiced using them correctly in sentences. I brought him a notebook in which he can take notes on the items we cover each week. The goal being that in December he can start looking over these notes as a refresher before he takes his exam in January. Next, we focused on subject-verb agreement. We also discussed collective nouns and how sometimes these can be considered singular rather than plural. He did very well on subject-verb agreement. Finally, we covered modifiers -- adjectives and adverbs. We discussed where modifiers are placed in a sentence and how the placement determines if the modifier is used correctly."
