Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The class teacher sent a power point, guided notes, practice worksheets, and a lab overview. during my time there the student was engaged and inquisitive, coming up with many examples and well thought out answers to the questions that I posed. We completed all of the work except one review worksheet. I read and went over the lab with the student. It is a week-long project on Newton's laws of motion. He will be working with classmates to complete the lab, which is to build a vehicle that will travel 150 cm, and give his class a presentation of their car and demonstrate how far it will travel. He understood the assignment and hoped to join his lab group on Friday."
"The student and I discussed the test I had created for her. She felt confident in her performance, but fortunately, also found some of the questions challenging. We then spent the rest of the session covering chapters on Medieval Europe and the Crusades. She still takes pages and pages of notes. I'm happy to oblige her in this style of learning."
"We reviewed the student's History homework and reviewed the key concepts for the section. He did a good job figuring out where the information was in the book. I also looked over his paper and gave him a few suggestions on what to improve on."
"The student and I went on to the next test, and reviewed the problems that she had questions about. She then took two more of the online quizzes. They went very well. She demonstrated that she still has a firm grasp of the material."
"The student and I began by discussing her upcoming test, the strategies she likes to use to study, and what tests have been like in her biology class in the past. We used her extra credit study guide to review. She answered verbally, but wrote any questions that she got wrong on a white board to ingrain the information and so that we could come back to later. When we reached the section on organelles, I asked her to fill out a foldable study tool to use for self-quizzing, because she needed extra practice remembering the function of each part of the cell. She ended up adding to this foldable as the session went on whenever a question needed additional study. She remains focused, and has a great attitude. I look forward to hearing how her test goes!"
"We covered limits and derivatives, computing limits, and interpreting graphs. The student had a great attitude in the session. "
