"Today we went over vertical angles, supplementary angles, complementary angles, and proofs. This was the student's first time learning proofs so it did prove a bit challenging for her. I gave her a link that lists the important postulates and theorems needed in geometry. She should practice using those properties to properly create proofs in the future."
"Today, we went over the student's study guide. She was pretty comfortable with the concepts in the study guide and said that this starting out to be easy. We went over the various formulas such as the perimeter of a triangle, square, rectangle and area of the same shapes. After looking at the study guide, I was able to find some practice questions in some online resources that we could go through, and she was able to get through those just fine. I encouraged her to remember not to skip steps in what problem she is working on. Overall, she did well, and it looks like she caught onto the concepts quickly in class."
"Today, we worked on areas of rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids, and circles. The concept of area and the formulas were familiar to the student, and we concentrated on more complex problems (ex: given area of a circle, find the circumference). We also worked on a few Geometry problems straight from a practice ISEE test. I left some problems for her to practice at home."
"Today, we worked on concepts which the student will need for her next math test. This included properties, such as transitive, addition/subtraction, and substitution. I was really pleased to see strong knowledge of math facts and algebra skills in her work! It seems she just needs to boost her confidence with this new type of material. I'm excited to work together this year!"
"Today, we worked on figuring out the types of angles with parallel lines and transversals. We covered same side and alternate side interior and exterior angles and solved problems involving the theorems and proofs of problems. We also had completed 2-7 of the online homework together."
"Today, we worked on her proofing homework, and then a few other problems at the end of her assignment. She did well with them. Between tech issues and some of the proofs being a little more complicated, parts of the session were a little bumpy, but overall, I think she understood the processes once we got through the proof and went back to look at it and just explain it in a little more detail."
