Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had missed a few days of school so the focus of our session was catching her up to the class. She picked up on the concepts quickly and studied outside of our session to ensure that she was ready for an upcoming quiz."
"We covered a couple of sections on slope and transformation of graphs. The student just took his first test and felt confident that he did well. We always have an excellent tutoring session when we work together. I believe that he enjoys math and tries very hard to be a better math student. He is doing great."
"During today's session, I worked with both students. Student 1 and I had a quick review in anticipation of an upcoming exam. We reviewed commands with verbs and the usage of pronouns in commands. We covered the basics and completed 12 practice problems successfully. Student 2 and I also prepared for an upcoming assessment by reviewing exponents and logarithms. We reviewed the general form and laws/properties of each. Using his textbook, we proceeded to complete about 20 practice problems successfully. I left both students with my notes."
"The student continued with his reviewing session in Chapter 4 regarding trigonometry. She was able to recall much of the materials. I helped him review the concepts he struggled with, such as determining distance using trig functions and conversion."
"The client and I continued working through the modules for his upcoming course in statistics. We went back over the concepts of measurement scales and descriptive statistics from last time and expanded on his understanding of variance and standard deviation. We took a small set of data and went step by step calculating the sum of squares and variance. We broke out the formula for sample variance and discussed it conceptually and all of the individual components of the formula. We then moved into the steps of hypothesis testing. We discussed the null and alternative hypotheses, and started an introduction on all of the following steps such as setting alpha and comparing sample means. Next session we will discuss the details why and how to set alpha, how it relates to Type I and Type II error and when and why to reject the null."
"The student had issues with a web assignment. We went over correlations, how to use a graphing calculator to find regressions and the correlation coefficient, and how to find r squared. I will add more information when we meet again on Sunday."
