Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on the student's homework covering rational functions. We were working on adding and subtracting rational expressions. We walked through the steps on the first few problems, and then I let him do some on his own. By the end of the session, he was feeling confident about the process."
"The student and I worked on solving for the surface and lateral areas for 3D shapes. This topic has not been covered in class yet and so it took a few practice problems for him to understand the concept of how to calculate the surface area."
"We are covering some new material. It involves finding the area of various shapes by cutting them into smaller shapes, and also some light trigonometry. We worked through most of his homework, and I'd say about 70% of the problems the student was able to solve with little or no assistance/supervision. I also went over some things not as directly related to the homework such as more trigonometric techniques or how to solve a problem in terms of pi (or roots) instead of actually estimating the values, which ensures maximal accuracy."
"The student and I finished studying for her geometry final exam today with chapters 11 and 12. She still does better with formulas and equations over math concepts, which would explain why she's doing so well in her algebra II class at school. I recommend further practice before her geometry exam, though she did well today."
"We did more practice with relative angles using knowledge about complementary, supplementary, vertical, and adjacent angles. She did get her quiz back, so we corrected it as she didn't do as well as she liked. After we went through her homework, I pulled up some practice problems for her to do. The student has an exam in geometry next week, so I'm hoping that we can use all of these assignments to help her prepare."
"We covered proofs, specifically geometric proofs using lines and angles. The student had some trouble with this before the session, but she improved and hopefully will do well on her test on Wednesday."
