Session Summaries by French Tutors

French Tutoring review by Seyed in Waltham, MA
The student and I  first discussed how she has done in her Physics class this semester and what some of the troubling concepts have been. We spent some time going over Newtonian force laws and discussed the concept of inertia. She had just taken the test over momentum concepts on Friday. We also looked at vector, acceleration, rate of change of velocity on inclines and a few other concepts. She will be getting the review for the final this week and we are set to meet again on Wednesday to cover that.

French Tutoring review by Susie in Waltham, MA
We covered worksheet 8.2c and covered integration between two equations, integration revolving around an axis, the concepts of the relationship between integration and derivation, approximations versus specific integration, etc. The student is very quick with catching up on new concepts and is retaining the old concepts very well. There are a few things that weren't quite clear to him in class such as when revolving around an axis, to integrate in terms of the variable of the axis that the figure is revolving around. We have cleared some of these up and will continue to practice more integration on Wednesday night before his test on Chapter 8, over integration.

French Tutoring review by Ishita in Waltham, MA
We spent the first hour working on geometry. He had a small worksheet on sequences and series that we worked through, and then some practice on how to identify and classify triangles by both angles and sides. He's doing okay with it, but is having some trouble remembering the different names, such as isosceles and scalene. We also worked on chemistry for a while, going over energy, wavelength, frequency, and how to use those equations. We also went over electron configuration and orbitals and Lewis Dot structures.

French Tutoring review by Jordan in Waltham, MA
For today's session, the student completed two math sections, a writing section, and an essay. While she got had some difficulty with the math sections (especially in regards to remainders), she still performed well, maintaining her score around the 550 level. She continued to improve her writing scores, scoring about a 630. Most impressive though, was her improvement on her essay, which was well written and well argued. Her focus now is to work on the organization, especially with regards to how the introductory and concluding paragraphs fit into the whole flow of the essay. For homework I assigned her two math sections, a writing section, and an essay. I also told her to get some extra review with remainders. Assuming that her writing scores remain strong, we will shift gears in our final sessions over to critical reading, which was initially her strongest area.

French Tutoring review by Lenora in Waltham, MA
The student has come a long way since our initial meeting. He recognizes about 20 letters by site now which is amazing. He has always been good in math and I highly suggest any time math programs are offered that you sign him up because he has a natural talent for numbers. As always keep the activities fun and engaging and he will excel.

French Tutoring review by William in Waltham, MA
The student and I talked about our week and what we have been doing. She took notes and made corrections on grammar, vocab, and pronunciation as needed. Then we turned to the grammar book and worked through conjugations of etre and avoir, which she is quite familiar with already, but there were good phrases and vocabulary in the exercises we worked through. We also looked at avoir and idioms/ phrases with this verb. I shared the poem "Le Pont Mirabeau" and we looked at the first couple of verses, and I shared a link to Leo Ferre's version of the song. We will meet again this coming Sunday and she will continue with exercises in the grammar book.
