French Tutoring review by Deana in Elmwood Park, IL
We reviewed the student's homework, which consisted of a workbook page about conjugating the verb mettre and using new vocabulary for clothing. For the rest of the lesson, we took notes on the passe compose tense with the auxiliary verb etre and did some practice problems. We also reviewed the futur proche tense with a writing exercise in which she wrote about what she planned to do this weekend. Finally, we practiced agreement with the passe compose for verbs using etre. She is doing very well with everything we've done so far. It is important to continue reviewing as we add on new content. I plan to stick with futur proche, passe compose, and pronouns for several weeks.

French Tutoring review by Amy in Elmwood Park, IL
The student specifically mentioned learning very little vocabulary in French 1, which has made French 2 difficult since it builds on words and concepts learned in French 1. After learning about where she is at in her studies, we reviewed present tense conjugations of regular -er verbs. First we reviewed how to form the conjugations and practiced written conjugations of some common regular -er verbs. We also practiced pronunciation. These are the rote skills that will help especially with written assessments. At the end, we started to go over pronunciation of vowels, the differences between French and English. She had a good attitude, was ready to learn, and picked up on things quickly.

French Tutoring review by Mary in Elmwood Park, IL
It seems like the student is getting on quite well in her new French 2 class. We reviewed many of the topics she studied in French 1, and she is picking up new (and old) concepts at an impressive rate. We focused primarily on the topic of travel, which was not covered in her previous class at her old school. We did a lot of practice with "ir" and "er" verb conjugations. After reviewing the conjugations briefly, the student was able to construct and translate sentences quickly, with only minimal prompting from me, which was excellent. We also went over some key vocabulary related to train stations and airports. Overall, the student has an excellent foundation and a great attitude; I'm confident she will excel in her French studies.
