Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student was understanding the concepts that we had previously reviewed. Including SN1, SN2, E1, E2, aldehyde and ketone reactions. We also discussed oxidation and reduction."
"During today's session, the student and I began coverage of vibrations and surrounding concepts including frequency, period, Hooke's Law, spring and mass systems, and pendulum systems. He had briefly seen these concepts in class, but had seen no examples and had not had homework on it yet. Considering the period of his exposure, he did very well with conceptual and practical solutions using these concepts."
"As per the student's dad's request, the student and I have changed our approach from going over material and homework already covered in class to working ahead, giving him a chance to have a detailed preview of his upcoming class material with me. We started by going over a homework assignment on chemical reactions and the balancing of those reactions. We went over the different types of equations including single-displacement, double-displacement, decomposition, and combustion equations. I was impressed with his knowledge of the types of reactions and his ability to see how compounds might interact. After going over some practice problems, it was clear that he understood the concepts and could make good problem solving decisions. After our review, he seemed much more comfortable with the process of balancing an equation, and he was able to walk me through some examples without much help. We continued working ahead after that on activity series. After talking over the concepts and trying a few practice problems, he was quickly able to take on problems without my help and answered every question we went over correctly. I'm very pleased with his focus. I appreciate his hard work and he really catches on quickly!"
