"We covered areas of irregular shapes (dividing up shapes into regular shapes and adding them together) and also geometric probability. She struggled a bit with picturing certain regions when given a complex shape and knowing which regions to subtract or add, particularly for concentric circles. She also needs to be careful with calculations. She was pretty comfortable with everything. I emphasized the 30,60, 90 triangle rule and told her that she would use it a lot when the problem involved equilateral triangles."
"We answered a couple of problems on chord and circles. We were able to answer almost 10 questions--a variety of proving and calculations. He was able to answer the questions except for 3-4 questions that he needed guidance how to start the calculations."
"This was my first session with the student. We went over the current geometry stuff involving surface area, and by the end he was able to do the problems by himself with minor or no mistakes. I moved on to something else, but he does need some more practice on his own. We also reviewed some various tips or facts, stuff I felt he needed to know. Then we switched to a bit of Chemistry. The only thing really giving him trouble here was the theory behind Dimensional Analysis. Once he understood what DA was for and the way to go about using it, he was able to solve some reaction problems! The final thing we did was talk about limiting reactants. He was able to follow along with what I was saying, but next week we'll go over it some more to make sure it's solid."
"The student has a test on Thursday so I worked with her on the test topic, congruency. We reviewed proving two triangles to be congruent via SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS and how to write a step-by-step proof using terms such as "reflexive property" and "the three angle rule.""
"Today the student and I went over material for her Geometry test tomorrow. This mostly consisted of 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangle problems. She seemed to know what she is doing for the most part; she just needed some help simplifying the more wordy and complicated problems. I'm sure she will do well on her exam tomorrow, and I wish her the best of luck! If she has any last minute questions she can feel free to email me."
"Today we covered bisectors in triangles (concurrency theorem, point of concurrency). I explained how to find the circumcenter of a triangle. We used the midpoint, slope/ perpendicular slope and equation of line formulas to find the circumcenter of a triangle and how identify the center on graph. Also, she completed the homework and worked through the problems expertly. It was overall a very productive session!"
