Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Covered unfinished problems of 3 review sections, finished assigned problems for new section 7.2 before professor has covered (hence, the reason for the shortened session). Since he's had the class before, we discussed his difficulties, and once he gets test dates, we'll form some test prep to help cut down his trouble topics. His class is 95% tests, and he's a civil engineer major, so passing this to make it on to Calculus 3 is critical."
"The student worked on 2-d projectile motion problems today. The student understood each step, but may still need some additional assistance. She plans on working through them again, which is a good idea. We also worked on solving inequalities. This she did very well."
"During this session, the student and I continued our review of math, essay writing, and other areas in which we required a little brush up work. At this point, I am very confident in his ability to perform strongly on this test. He is very comfortable in all areas, and able, when focused, to handle any question thrown at him. Even with vocab words that are foreign to him, his accuracy rate has increased using the tips and strategies I've provided."
"The student and I worked on an essay for her dual credit English class. We went over the basic essay format, and then worked on writing a strong thesis. Then I showed the student how to find good textual evidence for her views. The essay seemed strong and she was comfortable with standard essay format."
"We continued to work on buoyancy problems for Physics. The student is getting better at solving these problems, but unfortunately some of the concepts from algebra are somewhat lacking for him, making these problems more difficult. Once he has a method to follow he does well, much of his trouble comes in finding and initially figuring out how to use that method. Buoyancy problems are conceptually difficult to begin with, but he is making good progress at grasping the concepts involved."
