Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I focused on improving his understanding of tenses, increasing his reading comprehension skills, and fine tuning his vocabulary. For homework, I assigned him two sections of reading and vocabulary."
"This was my last session with the student before her SAT exam. She got her scores back from the ACT, which were good. Her English and math scores were very good. I think the things that caused her the most problems on the ACT shouldn't affect her SAT score as much, provided she doesn't guess recklessly. We worked through a full reading and full math section, timed, and she seems to be working at a much faster pace than she was at the beginning of our sections. Her vocabulary's improved, although she's still having some trouble with the last two questions in the section, traditionally the no-context questions. Math went well, although the student-produced response questions seemed to stump her - once I prodded her in the right direction, she could finish, but she had a tough time starting. I told her the SPR questions required more thought, but that she shouldn't just give up - think about all the known and unknown quantities and try to solve them."
"Writing, Grammar, Reading, and Math. I asked to do a couple of practice essays and complete a full practice test. Also I asked the student to study words."
