"We continued with the latter half of a practice math section, going through each concept and explaining any that were unfamiliar (scientific notation, matrices, how to brute force patterns and sequences, and more). The student was able to apply the knowledge once equipped with it. I will be sending him additional math practice, and I recommended that he continue to finish the section along with any other practice he can get in."
"Get to know the student, determine her knowledge of ACT format and target score. Student would like to focus on reading/ math primarily. Answered reading questions at approx. 70% accuracy. States she is confident with vocabulary and questions that reference specific pieces of passage, less confident with overall tone and feeling. Also offered timing strategies and calculated target time per question."
"First off, the student just received his score report from his last ACT and received a 33. We talked about the test, how he felt, where he felt he could improve, and what our next steps were. We decided to put a little more focus on math and reading as those were his two lowest scores and then came up with a schedule. He took a math practice test and received a 30 but upon grading it we realized all his mistakes were preventable and if he is more careful on his test he will probably not miss those types of questions."
