Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we worked on reviewing the student's problems that she missed on her past physics examinations. We looked at unit conversions and how to answer one dimensional kinematic problems. We reviewed all of the equations the student must know. Then, we worked on graphical representations."
"Tonight, the student and I went over her notes and sample homework problems for her quiz tomorrow. We discussed the unit circle, finding angle velocity, finding linear velocity of a particle, unit conversions, triangle trig, finding exact trig values, finding all trig functions, co-terminal and reference angles, and Pythagorean Theorem. The sample homework problems were definitely challenging, but she understood the concepts and felt better after our session. She knows some strategies for tomorrow's quiz, and she will be sure to memorize the relevant formulas."
"We began discussing what the student hoped to get from these sessions and then began working on some of the material she was unclear with in HPC. After I worked through examples and explanations, I had her work through some practice problems (she did well on all of them). She is getting good at responding to and working with the thought experiments we do."
"We began reviewing for an upcoming exam on rational expressions. He seemed to understand all methods of factoring that are required to answer all such questions. His biggest issue came after when he needs to cancel out and simplify expressions. He can instantly recognize common expressions to be canceled, but has trouble identifying simple terms to be canceled. Other than that he had little issue with the material we went through. We spent the rest of the session going over graphing aspects of rational expressions and solving equations involving them."
"We completed his homework on function transformation. He is doing well. It is difficult to visualize some of the functions, but we went over strategies to do so. I showed him several online tools to help if he encounters something he is unfamiliar with."
"We completed the online quiz. She has a very good understanding of the material and has clearly done all of the reading and studying well. On some of the trickier problems, she just needed a couple hints and explanations."
