"The student struggled most with finding the degree of angles when given a bisector. He was unsure how to go about solving the equation and struggled with setting up the problem. We began by practicing together and once he was showed how to set up the equation and solve for the degree of the angle he had no problem completing similar questions on his own. We also focused on line segments and midpoints. The student did not have much graded work, but he did have example problems on his iPad that the teacher reviewed with the whole class. He was an excellent student; he let me know if anything was unclear, and he asked questions as we went along."
"The student told me that he was having the most difficulty with section 3-4, which he had learned after we met last week. It covered solving three-variable systems of equations. I went over the process and helped him work a variety of practice problems. I emphasized how important it is to check his work, as any small mistake will carry through the rest of the problem. We also did a linear programming practice problem."
"The student took half of his test today as he ran out of time and energy to complete it. He thought he did pretty well with the things that he knew. We continued to review the worksheet on solving equations, dimensional analysis, distance problems, and absolute problems. "
"The student was a bit distracted today. He was on his phone quite a bit during the session which deter him from being 100% focused. After identifying that it was obviously distracting him, he stopped and was able to answer questions correctly. Tonight, we went over a review of triangle properties, traversals, angle relationships, and conditional statements. He has a test later in the week. He is really strong in his knowledge regarding traversals and solving. He did not have any materials or homework today, so we went over concepts that will be on his next test. He needs to work harder concentrating on the specific steps needed in a specific multiple step problem. Next week, we will work on both concentration and problem solving."
"The student was having trouble figuring out the information that was given on a problem in a geometry review packet. She figured out the problems on congruence and her self confidence was built. We also looked at constructions, and I left her with practice problems."
"The student was much better at focusing this time! (She had a bit of a problem last time.) We worked on quadratic functions and plotting said functions, which included: scale (a), horizontal shift (h), and vertical shift (k). We covered function notation and order of operations. We also talked about absolute value and reviewed some graphing basics. Great job!"
