Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session we discussed the principle parts of the verb. We reviewed/learned what tenses and verbal forms derive from each principle part, and practiced conjugating the tenses the student has learned using her current vocabulary list; we especially focused on conjugating and translating the future tense. We also discussed adjective and noun agreement (in case, number, and grammatical gender), and reviewed some practice sentences. No concerns."
"The student went over noun endings for first and second declension nouns, verb endings for first and second conjugation verbs, and practiced declining adjectival phrases. We then moved on to translating short sentences with adjectival phrases. He is making progress with translating."
"Reviewed translating/sentences for class in addition to reviewing grammar: ablative absolutes, indirect statements, conjugating verbs, impersonal verbs, declension endings, and gerunds/gerundives."
"Today we focused on the second declension. The student has a quiz this coming week, so I drilled him on some vocabulary. I also introduced him to imperfect tense verbs and assigned him some paradigms to write out for our next meeting."
"Today the student and I worked on a cumulative homework assignment for the past few months of Latin, focusing on adjectives, adverbs and vocabulary. After finishing, he and I studied for his upcoming vocabulary quiz. He did a terrific job today. His enthusiasm and intelligence never cease to amaze me. What a great student."
"We covered various uses of the genitive case and used the passage 'The tyrant can trust no one' to review and practice translation. This particular passage is a good example for practice since it is a simplified version of texts by Cicero, whom the student will certainly be studying next year."
