Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I primarily reviewed content in the homework and old exams, introducing a couple of small concepts along the way. He showed progress, but he still has failed to commit to memory some of the things that require memorization of more than one step. I hope to work more on memorization techniques with him moving forward."
"The student and I specifically covered graphing and integration, and analogies between geometrical areas and integrals. The student was attentive and actively productive during the tutoring session."
"The student and I spent our session covering a few concepts for his test on Friday, specifically improper integrals. I discussed the underlying logic with him to help him better understand the purpose of this subtype and we worked through a couple problems. The explanation and practice really helped him to understand the concepts and should prepare him better for this coming test."
"The student and I spent our time completing the calculus worksheet she was given over the summer. She had done most of the worksheet before we met and we worked on the harder problems towards the end and reviewed strategies for completing them."
"The student and I spoke about calculus, and we went over the conceptual meaning and how to solve derivative problems. The lesson went well, and we covered a lot of material. He was a lot more comfortable after the session. He said he feels more confident in his course work now."
"The student and I started by talking about her previous math courses. We started by reviewing limits, first with the epsilon delta definition and notation and then working through solving limit problems. We reviewed a number of limit techniques, including substitution, factoring, multiplying by the conjugate, and special limit theorems. We discussed the proof and intuition briefly, before trying to solve problems involving indeterminate forms. Finally, we started a review of both implicit and logarithmic differentiation. She was very strong with implicit differentiation. I assigned her practice problems for limits as well as practice problems from the exam."
