Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on the representation of trigonometric functions: graphs and translations, as well as conic sections and their representations."
"Worked with the student on her pre-calc homework in preparation for a test she will have this coming week. We went through the problems that her teacher had assigned, as well as some extra ones from the chapter review."
"The student has a test on Tuesday, so we focused heavily on the relevant material. Topics covered included: composite functions, inverse functions, transformations, and modeling. He made good progress in these areas, but we will revisit some earlier concepts in the future."
"Today we covered limits from graphs and tables. We worked with the very basics of limits. The student seems fairly comfortable with them."
"We did some work with word problems, graphing transformations with parent functions, and some function composition problems. The student got a B+ on her test last week! She isn't struggling with much, she learns quickly once she gets the concepts. I left her with a couple of practice problems for the type of problems she was struggling most with."
"The student is in the final push for her final exam. She has been preparing extensively for this exam. Such extensive preparation should do her well, and I respect that she applies such a high level of work ethic to academics and athletics. To review for the exam, she had gone through all of the chapter practice tests; these practice tests included very difficult questions. She was able to answer most of them without any trouble. We reviewed concepts such as vertical asymptotes, horizontal asymptotes, and oblique asymptotes, as well as the factors leading to such asymptotes. We reviewed functions with polynomials in the denominator. We reviewed domain and range, as well as a the vocabulary that goes along with these. I believe she is well-prepared for the exam. Best of luck to her on the exam, I know she will do well!"
