Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered sin/cos/tan functions tonight. I walked her through the basics and then we covered inverses of the functions. We did some practice problems before turning to practice word problems. She needs practice with drawing the diagrams correctly when dealing with word problems."
"We covered three concepts: Piecewise Functions, Solving Quadratic Equations, and Finding Polynomial Roots. The student has a clear grasp on all of the concepts and we were able to work on each of these for about 30 minutes. We started with solving quadratic equations and make sure that she knew how to start a problem. Then with piecewise functions she showed me she could both draw them and come up with the function from the graph. Finally, we ended the session by answering questions from her books on finding polynomial roots. We also practiced synthetic division here. Good luck on your quizzes next week!"
"Since our last meeting, the student's class had only covered 1 more chapter section, which was the one that we started looking at last week. We did some review of that, and went over one concept that was a little tricky to remember (that when dividing or multiplying by a negative number, the inequality flips). She didn't want to move too far ahead (we looked at the next chapter section) because her class moves so slowly, so we left it at that."
"Yesterday, the student worked on her geometry homework first. She has a very good intuitive sense of geometry. We then did some number sense worksheets and played an operations game. It was a great session."
"We covered fraction addition and subtraction. He did do very well, and is learning concepts easily!!"
"This was my first time tutoring the student, and I felt like it went really well. We reviewed her homework problems and then some problems from previous assignments that had been difficult for her. Then I created some practice problems covering concepts like prime numbers, conversions, etc. She seems very eager to learn and it was great working with her!"
