Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I graded some more of his story today, and wrote another two pages from his outline. I asked him questions like, where are they, what room are they in, what are they doing, how many people are there in the room, what does the room look like, what's the conversation about, etc. to help get his brain going. Once I got his thoughts going he was able to write quite fluidly. He again had a great attitude today, and he kept a nice pace going with the story."
"The student and I continued working on adding detail to writing by discussing details that can be added to paragraphs (statistics, examples, anecdotes, etc.). We also discussed writing a good topic sentence. We then wrote a couple paragraphs on varying topics for practice."
"We reviewed recent English essay assignments, and I suggested ways to tackle topic at a more complex level. We then reviewed his writing assignment for next week, and went over the initial research and organization. We continued developing evidence based claims for piece on Plato's Apology. Progress was made on developing claims, and next week we will continue to work on developing claims to write a coherent thesis."
