Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a Physics final at the end of this week so we spent the session reviewing a few problems from each topic. We concentrated on concept questions and questions without numbers."
"The student and I discussed the three different collisions and when momentum and kinetic energy are conserved. She seemed to have a solid understanding of this topic. We then focused on a specific problem that she finds doable but slightly difficult. It involved the combination of momentum conservation, work and energy, and kinematics in one problem. We practiced a few of those and I discussed how physics gets harder as the year goes on because you often have to apply knowledge from previous chapters. The hardest types of problems are those that requires all different knowledge and skills to be solved. Therefore we focused on those but by the end of the session the student seemed to be more comfortable with them. I discussed how with momentum conservation problems, you often have to break them down into two or three parts. She was having trouble recognizing that kinematics became necessary in some of the current chapters problems. We went over a packet she had been working on, including the challenge problem that she had yet to tackle. It involved something she had not seen before, momentum conservation in two dimensions. We solved the problem and she seemed to have a strong understanding of it. As long as she continues to study for her upcoming test, she is on the right track for a solid performance."
"The student is studying for her semester final. She is reviewing force-body diagrams and adding vectors. We reviewed these topics."
