Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I reviewed problems from the book with the student regarding inscribed angles within circles. We used various theorems which related arc angles to angles formed by intersecting lines, and all intersections touching the edge of circles. After I used inquiry and prompted him to review some of the major theorems and formulas to apply on the given problems, he began solving them effectively."
"We continued to work on finding the area of a sector or segment of a circle. We also completed a couple of word problems applying this concept. At the end of the session, we made a short review sheet on how to find the apothegm of common regular polygons and then the steps to find the apothegm of any regular polygon."
"The student and I worked on her review for her upcoming test. She had completed much of the review but had issues with three sections: deriving information about regular polygons, word problems and geometric probabilities. We focused the lion's share of our efforts on the section on regular polygons. We finished our session by examining the word problems and geometric probabilities (neither of which she had issues with)."
"We did a big section with a lot of proofs, and got almost every single one done! The student did a very good job through all this; she's getting this chapter down well, even though there are a lot of very slightly different theorems."
"Today, we worked on a history project on Woodstock. The student had already compiled the information. We worked on a slide presentation together. Our main objectives were concision, organization, and omission of boring/redundant information. The student did well today!"
"The student and I worked on various topics for her quiz tomorrow. We covered interior sums, exterior sums, polygons, and sides/angles. We also went over using other algebra topics and techniques integrated within these, for example factoring."
