Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The teacher extended the assignment to Thursday so we worked on the remainder of the problems. She was in excellent shape. No issues to report. The student's next assignment is not until later this month. I'll check in with her next week to see how she's doing."
"The student and I went over questions from his homework. We talked about the effect of Fed open market operations on the interest rate and inflation. We also talked about how a strike at oil refineries might affect short term supply and prices. I gave him a few tips on rereading test and homework answers to catch mistakes. His accuracy when using economic vocabulary is increasing and he's very good at communicating his points."
"Edited several assignments, including: Industry Profile assignment; Storytelling Video script; Focus Group Summary paper; Open Source paper; Counter Op-ed assignment; Counter Op-ed Explanation paragraph; Narrative Q&A Interview questions; and News Story final version."
"His test is coming up next week and this is a make-or-break moment for him. He has been working through a lot of the material and reviewing things that he finds difficult. I hope that he will do the various assignments that I left with him because I think it will do him well. We have at least one more meeting before the test."
"We began today with an extensive review of the supply and demand factors we focused so much on last week. We went over several multiple choice questions to practice understanding which type of shift in supply/demand would be caused by various factors. The student did very well on these. We then briefly reviewed inflation indexes before turning to unemployment. She remembered most of the types of unemployment on her own without much prompting. Finally, we wrapped up by beginning to study aggregate supply, with the goal of having her do some independent reading on the history of classical and Keynesian economics before we dive all-in on aggregate supply and demand next week."
"The student and I continued working on her research paper. We continued to flesh out her outline and I was on hand for any questions she had about setting it up. She said she is now feeling more confident about the essay. Our next session is on Friday."
"In addition to discussing resources for his upcoming paper, the student and I covered Hotelling equilibrium, Cournot competition, and Stackelberg competition. We also began discussing the economic idea of a firm and its associated variable, fixed, and marginal costs. The student was very amiable and interested in economics. He seemed to really appreciate the advice/instruction I was able to provide him with and did not struggle much with any of the concepts we covered. I look forward to meeting with him again!"
"We went through the student's practice test for Investments. Topics covered included net asset value, return on investment, load fees, and exit fees."
"A nice review session in preparation for his upcoming test. We covered all of the most recent topics including: land rents, wages, demand resources. We went over questions from his workbook and dug into topics. The student was prepared for the session and engaged during."
