Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student took practice test #4, and I was excited to see an improvement of 3 points (from 23-26) since she took test #3 prior to our first session. I was also glad to see her bring questions from assignments she completed after our last session--she does noticeably better when she's done any pre-reading or review in between meetings. Today, we focused on acids/bases, going over the five sample discretes I'd brought along, a review passage, and the passages related to acid/base chemistry she'd struggled with on her two full-length practice tests. By the end of our review, I felt that she'd made significant improvements with the calculations and conceptual understanding of this material. I gave her a ton of acid/base review HW. Next time we will look at the light/optics material; we'll also be covering alcohol-containing reactions in our next meeting. In addition to reviewing the acids/bases we covered today and preparing for the light/optics and alcohols review next time, I recommended that she find a number of biology and physics topics that she feels more comfortable with to review on her own."
"At the student's request, we covered Biochem - Inductive Effect, Resonance, OS vs FC, Sugars, Hybridization, and Priority. Largely, this session was about polishing the rust off of her knowledge and stitching disparate factoids into a synthetic whole to preface her Biochem course next semester. She is to go over Acid/Base prep for next session."
"The student and I went through several of her past quizzes. We focused the session on strategies to solve the problems in a timely fashion."
