Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our session, the student and I reviewed his very few chapter 5 test errors. I was elated about his high test score. We then went over sections 1 and 2 of chapter 6 so that he would better understand his teacher's next lessons."
"We did a lot of distributing into parenthetical expressions and factoring things out of them, and I am extremely confident in the student's ability to perform those operations now. His comprehension of word problems was still a little iffy. He didn't completely understand what the math is accomplishing, besides just doing math for math's sake. We went over how to recognize what multiplication and division were actually doing in terms of real situations, which I believe was the most important thing we covered. I believe he understood more of it, and we will continue to go over this."
"The student and I reviewed his homework packet. He completed the math word problem and a reading passage with comprehension and vocabulary questions, and he matched vocabulary words to their meaning. We played Snap-It-Up, a multiplication facts game, at the end of the session."
"They've started doing basic trig (sine/ cosine/ tangent), so we covered a lot of material today: how to solve if you're finding a side given an angle and another side, how to find the angle if you're given two sides, etc. The student did really well and acknowledged that while he feels he is working too slowly right now, it's better to go slow with new material than to go quickly and make mistakes. As he does more of this, he'll do it more rapidly."
"We covered 2 PSAT tests and I noticed that the student was only struggling with minor details. She was positive to the feedback and complacent with doing the 2 sections of extra practice I assigned her for tomorrow. She scored a 62 (PSAT) score on the math this time."
"We kept working on fractions and mixed numbers today. The student is definitely working more confidently and is tackling more complicated problems without much trouble. We'll just work next session on not rushing and he should be in perfect shape for the exam on Wednesday."
