We covered topics related to functions, including finding maxima, minima, intersection points, and increasing/decreasing intervals. We also discussed inverse functions and odd/even functions. Finally, she worked through her quiz review packet online."
"Today, the student and I focused on the properties of polynomial functions. We began today's tutoring session with a review of the properties of quadratic functions. Then, we reviewed each of the methods for solving quadratic equations, including "completing the square," the quadratic formula, and factoring perfect squares. We also covered how to find the vertex, minimum/maximum, and zeros of quadratic equations. Then, we moved onto finding the zeros of polynomial functions and how to graph these more complex functions. We also reviewed the Intermediate Value Theorem, Leading Coefficient Test, and synthetic division. She had a great attitude and worked very hard throughout the entire session. She was able to solve difficult problems that tested her on every single topic after a little review and some explanations. We will continue to review the information presented in her math class in future weeks."
"Today, the student and I went over a past homework assignment as well as some class notes. The main topic that I helped her with was inverse functions. Exercises included finding the inverse function, graphically analyzing inverse functions, and identifying the domain and range of an inverse function. She is already showing progress in the sense that she is completing her homework assignments in her own. Great session!"
