Finance Tutoring review by Elnora in Youngstown, OH
The student and I reviewed one of her homework problems that involved the calculation of the value of a corporation, as well as the value of a corporation's equity using the total value method and the equity method. She felt comfortable with the first exercise that was fairly straightforward in terms of the assumptions given and the calculations. One area that we covered in-depth was the calculation of the weighted average cost of capital that was used to value the total corporation/firm. We also worked through a second problem that was more complex from the standpoint of the formula that was needed to convert the "firm" free cash flows to the "equity" cash flow in order to apply the constant growth model to obtain the total corporate/firm and equity values. I will be formatting notes and sending them to her through email.

Finance Tutoring review by Kris in Youngstown, OH
First we reviewed a short draft of the student's memo on a case. We covered the contrast between a strategic alliance and an acquisition and what opportunity costs could have been considered in the case's acquisition. Second, we reviewed her draft paper on lessons learned from a group leadership exercise, which I had highlighted for corrections. She needed help with tense agreement in combining sentences. She's improving her use of grammar. I suggested she research the term mutual strategic advantages. She drafted a summary paragraph for the essay and sent it via the chat. I found it to be well-rounded and grammatically correct.

Finance Tutoring review by Francis in Youngstown, OH
We discussed concepts in probability and statistics such as the normal distribution, Z-scores, and standardizing data. We worked through some problems calculating and interpreting standard deviation, and using Z-scores to estimate probabilities. The student quickly grasped the concepts and solved the last set of problems on his own. He clearly showed an improved understanding of the material.

Finance Tutoring review by Jeehee in Youngstown, OH
For today's tutoring session, we reviewed the final chapter that would be listed on her test. The final chapter was about the confidence interval which covered over the t-distribution test. Before we did the final chapter, we also did a few problems regarding to the continuous and normal distribution (chapter 6). After talking with the student, she thinks that she has a good grasp of chapter 6. As for the confidence interval, I think there are some concepts that were confusing her, but going through steps seemed to help her. Because of time and since her test is tomorrow, I advised her to solve problems through steps, but to also read the problems carefully. Additionally, it is important that she gets the big picture of what the problem is asking.

Finance Tutoring review by Kevin in Youngstown, OH
Today we covered basics of descriptive statistics such as population, sample size, calculating sample size, and measures of central tendency. We also looked at the specific data set that the student is working on and did some initial visual analyzing of the data. He is an intelligent professional who has many great ideas. I look forward to helping him work with his data set, and refreshing his business statistics. We discussed the structure of the sessions and I will provide an agenda before each session so we can skip basic information and dive right into the data sets. I am looking forward to our next session.
