Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student and I completed his chapter four reading guide that covers concepts from the whole chapter. He did well with the concepts and identifying what type of energy each one was. Sometimes I did have to emphasize key points of the question so he could identify exactly what was being asked."
"Yesterday, the student and I focused on continuing our work for his long-term history project paper on Greek and Roman slavery. We talked about paraphrasing, pulling quotes, and surveying multiple sources to piece together a larger idea, and using note cards to work on his current interim assignment (which is to provide source notes that will later be used for his paper). We also did some textbook reading together, and answered key questions in preparation for his history reading quiz. I did leave him with a request to obtain his source materials for the long-term project, so that we can have them on hand whenever necessary for reference. He is also going to review his questions for the quiz so that he can solidify the knowledge he will need."
"The student is a very smart young man that just needs help with organizational skills. His school's grading website was down so I was unable to view his grades/work; however, I did speak to him about his progress and got a good feel for where he is in his classes. The three major courses we will focus on are Spanish, social studies, and English. My goal is that he becomes successful in all his classes this year."
"The student made the decision to switch into a different elective class and took the steps necessary to obtain BB access. We reviewed the syllabus and what he would need to do in order to catch up. This class will be easier to manage with travel and he has greater interest in it. He took notes on his new to-do list and reviewed it with me. He will update me on his progress. I reiterated how important it was for him to ensure he stayed on top of his marketing class as it is necessary for him to graduate and take higher level courses. We plan on meeting again over the weekend to track his progress."
"The student took his spelling test and I rewrote missed words for him to practice. He worked on summer math homework; number sense. He then edited the summary paragraph he wrote on the book he is reading. He fixed spelling errors, grammar, conventions and sentence structure."
"The student turned in her homework on time! We spent a lot of time underlining how it would be so much easier not to have to worry about all the work hanging over our heads. She took the advice to heart and finished her assignment right away! She's gone from being reluctant about assignments or putting them off to getting them done quickly and efficiently, and I'm so, so proud of her for working so hard to achieve that!"
