Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I spent some time talking about school, college and other topics.

"We covered triangle congruence via SSA, SAS, etc. We spent the entire session working through practice problems on a worksheet she had brought home. Her biggest difficulty is in translating the conceptual relations into mathematical equations, so we focused on that. She seemed to be doing well by the time our session wound down."
"The student and I continued doing problems out of his geometry workbook. We did problems out of chapter 9 on triangles and calculating area and continued to chapter 10 covering quadrilaterals. He is making progress at writing down his work and this is helping him improve."
"The student and I continued working on employing our knowledge of triangles, functions, and angles that we've gained over the course of this year in creative ways. We keep seeing the same kinds of questions, sometimes in new formats, we just have to know which tools to use in which situations. I continue to see the student improving, as she keeps taking more initiative in her work."
"Today the student and I worked on Inscribed Angles for an hour. It was difficult for her in the beginning to understand how to calculate and solve the equations but I was able to help her in solving the equations and teach her strategies throughout the session. I also found a useful website that she can utilize as she works with the problems to solve the equations located at this site. The site is very useful in solving equations with angles inscribed into circles. After practicing several problems, she was able to understand it and we moved onto Angle Measures and Segment Lengths. She was able to grasp these problems more easily as they did not require as many steps when solving them."
"Met with the student and reviewed the theorems of secants for his test. Also solved problems on calculating arc lengths, angles, etc. His skills appeared to be slightly more automatic. Visual aids greatly help him."
"We solved many similarity of triangle problems. He was able to do them fairly easily now that he traces out what he knows on the triangles. We will continue to work on visual tactile methods like this as more geometry concepts are delivered. We also studied orbitals of atoms."
"For this session, the student had an assessment practice packet that he wanted to review and there were a few questions that he wanted to go over. I will bring some assessment practice worksheets for future sessions, which would help in answering questions for material in the future."
"We covered quadrilaterals and rectangles, specifically the problems from the learning tools exam. We started with a review of two problems. She could do the first easily, with just the formulas, and the second once she looked over her notes for reference. She understood what we had discussed the previous week which was great. We also discussed triangles briefly, specifically special triangles (like 3-4-5). I will pick up with triangles next week."
"We spent this session working on previous homework and reviewing topics including use of the reflexive property in geometric proofs, the formula for finding the midpoint of a line segment, and the distance formula."
"This session was spent half with student 1, half with student 2. Student 1 and I went over some of the new material being taught in his anatomy class. I spent time teaching him some of the helpful mnemonics/tricks for remembering various items involved in muscle physiology (e.g., contraction). Student 2 and I went over study guides and a large number of practice problems to prepare him for a weekly quiz."
"We continued to review the topics covered this semester to prepare for his final. We worked on writing equations of lines, graphing, angle relationships, using the Pythagorean theorem, and the distance formula. The student is doing well remembering topics covered this year."
