Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I went over conjugating verbs both in present and the passe compose; she did very well with this! With each session she improves more and more, and her confidence is really building. We also went over which verbs are used specifically with etre in the passe compose; she is getting quicker with this as well. We will continue to work on these two concepts in the next session. The student and I worked on her project paragraph which she will be working on more between now and our next session. The student's greatest struggle in class is taking tests, so we talked about the specifics of that and went over understanding what her teacher is expecting as answers, etc.--she really picked up on it and I believe that as long as we continue to practice the topics, she will really bring her grade up, which is currently a D, based mainly on low test scores. The student has a practice sheet I have sent to her to complete for our next session and we will go over it together. We will also work on using the negative in present tense sentences and asking questions in the present and passe compose. All throughout our session, the student remained very positive and her attitude was great. Although we have only had four tutoring sessions so far, I am impressed with her growth with the language, she is really doing well."
"I asked the student to describe her family ski trip in French. I asked her what she did, who went, where they went, and what they did, giving her practice in conversation, speaking, listening, and vocabulary. She learns quickly and speaks very well in French. We also went over verb conjugations, vocabulary, and some common expressions. I have been using the immersion method with her as much as possible."
"I helped the first student with exercises using verbs ending in "ir"; more exercises with "ir" verbs and memory exercises describing people and what they like. With the second student, I helped her with exercises and also did memory exercises describing what people do in a store using verbs, colors, sizes and comments."
