Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered an introduction to probability and worked mainly with experimental probability. We conducted experiments with flipping coins in order to calculate experimental probability and to demonstrate how this varies between trials. We practiced with problems from the student's workbook and with problems provided by the tutor."
"Topics covered included exponential functions, population growth, and domain and range. The student demonstrated a better understanding of how to solve these problems and was able to do them more quickly and independently. Homework and a new study guide packet were started and completed."
"We reviewed some of his practice problems, and covered topics including continuity of functions, period of cos(ax), and graphing of trig functions. No concerns."
"The student and I practiced Logarithms by reviewing how addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are impacted and influenced in a logarithm equation and also simplifying an equation with logarithms involved."
"We went over finding volume via the Washer method and by the end of the session, the student had a clear process for solving such problems and a high level of confidence for doing so. Our focus for the next session will be the Ecology Unit within AP Biology."
"The student and I went through her notes/examples in preparation for her midterm this week. I helped clarify her understanding with graphical analysis, such as box plots, histograms, and scatter plots. We spent a good amount of time discussing the Normal curve, z-scores, and probability."
"We spent a good deal of time at the beginning of the session working through asymptote issues that he was having. I assigned a set of these types of problems as well as prime factoring questions as well."
"We reviewed concepts in arithmetic and geometric sequences. We applied these concepts to homework problems in the textbook and additional practice problems. In chemistry we discussed acids and bases and how to identify each in various reactions."
"In this evening's session, the student and I worked through portions of his Final Exam Review. We focused mainly on logarithms and systems of equations. He needed some reminders about the properties of logarithms, but then completed the exercises without much assistance."
"Today, the student and I went over all of her material for her final. Her test is tomorrow, and she has been progressing well thus far. I stressed the importance of early planning and revisiting older material. I'm sure the student will pass her final, and graduate this semester."
"The student is still working on retaking some of her low test grades, so we started by going over a couple of her tests on logarithms. She seems to get good support from her teacher in this area. The student has been doing really well on her retakes (A's and B's), so I'm confident that she'll be able to pull her grades up to where they need to be."
"The student and I covered variables and solving one-step equations, decimal and fractional arithmetic, number classification, and algebraic notation today. I left the student with an assignment over one-step equations and fractional arithmetic for Friday."
