Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we watched some animation trailers and played "rock, scissors and paper." We played with his cars and stuffed animals. While playing, we reviewed some words and phrases from previous sessions such as: "please give me," "this is mine," "Who are you?" "I'm ____," etc. Today's vocab for review were: monster and bite."
"I used the target language almost 100%. The student liked it a lot and thought it was challenging. She's showing improvement with vocabulary. As I reviewed her Chinese textbook with her, she was very cooperative. I asked to go over the notes she took after the session."
"Student 1's pronunciation is really good. I will plan more practice for him next time to practice the 4 tones. Today, he learned how to say one-week activities. Student 2 just started to learn pinyin, and she is learning vowels now. Today she also learned how to say the 12 months in Chinese."
"The student is a very motivated Spanish learner with good strategies for implementing his knowledge of Spanish on a day-to-day basis. We discussed his previous approaches to tutoring sessions and determined a plan of action for moving forward, which will involve one or two grammar based activities, followed by discussion in Spanish to practice those skills. Today we listened to a clip from a podcast about current events, and this sparked a discussion for the rest of the session in which we practiced the imperfect and preterite tenses, learned the phrase "caer(le) bien/mal a alguien," and the verb "soler." Next session we will do activities to practice ir and ser in the past, and ser versus estar. I have made a note that he would like more vocabulary that will enable him to talk about his pets, travel, and his work."
"Today, the student and I worked on Spanish conversation, and passive and active sentences. She was very positive and collaborative."
"Today the student wanted to work on language arts instead of Spanish in preparation for an exam this week. We went over a PowerPoint about Latin and Greek roots and vocabulary words. We practiced spelling, defining, and using each word in sample sentences."
