Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session we did last minute review for the student's midterm. I saw a lot of improvement as the student was now able to do most problems on her own. She had a little difficulty with limits in indeterminant form and when to use and not to use L'Hopital's Rule. We also reviewed related rates. Together, we came up with a lot of techniques that would help her solve problems faster by eliminating some repetitive steps."
"Today, the student and I reviewed derivatives, relative extrema, intervals of increase/decrease, points of inflections, intervals of concavity, optimization and related rates. She did a very good job with each of the problems. My suggestion for her for tomorrow's test, as well as her final, is to really have a firm understanding of the ideas behind optimization and related rates. I have emailed some of the notes from tonight's session for her to review. Overall, she is doing a wonderful job and has a good understanding of most concepts."
"We discussed basic definitions for 1st order differential equations. Then discussed the special case of separable diff. eqs."
"The student has a midterm Friday, so we worked on review, focusing on implicit differentiation through related rates. We moved on to continuous rate problems, trigonometry programs, and ended with implicit differentiation."
"We went over various problems from review packets that the student had been given by his instructor. We went over problems that covered arc length in polar coordinates, directions of parametrized curves, as well as the geometric series. The student has a very positive attitude toward the subject."
"We reviewed derivatives for exponential and logarithmic functions. The student has a test tomorrow and was struggling with a few of the concepts. We went over the various rules and then tried a number of practice problems online. We also reviewed maximization and concavity. She felt much better with the material after our session. I anticipate that she will do well on her exam."
