My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

If your student could benefit from academic help as they pursue their goals, reach out to us to connect with a knowledgeable San Francisco Bay Area tutor for students who struggle with executive function.

What skills can a San Francisco Bay Area tutor near me for students who struggle with executive function reinforce for my student?

A private San Francisco Bay Area tutor for students who struggle with executive function can help your student master many academic skills. For example, your student can practice a routine that helps them remember which books they need to bring home to successfully complete their homework.

If your student has a hard time remembering directions, their instructor can also adopt a multisensory approach to help the info stick in their mind. For instance, seeing information written down and hearing it out loud can make it easier to remember than either technique alone. Memory tricks such as mnemonic devices can also be a fun way to retain more information.

Similarly, some students who struggle with executive function have a hard time remembering textbook readings. A private instructor can teach your student active reading strategies such as highlighting and note-taking to help them engage with the material, potentially improving their retention rate.

If your student has a hard time embracing alternate points of view, a private instructor can play games under alternate rule sets to stoke their creativity. A simple game of "What's This?" (in which a child is asked to use their imagination to come up with alternate uses for common household items) can also help them see things in new ways. For example, a paper towel holder could be a sword, a spyglass, and a roller.

What are a few of the advantages that private San Francisco Bay Area tutoring for students who struggle with executive function can provide?

If your student has a 504 Plan or IEP (Individualized Education Plan), a private instructor can utilize these documents to determine the best way to begin your student's San Francisco Bay Area tutoring for students who struggle with executive function. A private instructor can also take the time to get to know your student, helping them better meet their needs.

For example, many students who struggle with executive function associate school with negative experiences such as being scolded for speaking out of turn or not being able to keep up with their peers. Studying in a one-on-one learning environment can remove these connotations from the equation, helping your student develop more confidence in their academic abilities. A private instructor can also create a learning environment where questions are encouraged, allowing your student to ask for assistance before they start to feel overwhelmed.

Likewise, San Francisco Bay Area tutors for students who struggle with executive function can design sessions around their pupil's unique learning style to optimize their study efficiency. For instance, a kinesthetic learner could benefit from practicing how to load their backpack, while a visual learner could benefit more from flashcards illustrating each step.

Great session with the student. We covered aggregate expenditure models and related sub-topics. He has yet to cover chapter 12 in class. We made plans to resume after he has covered this chapter in class.

We worked on GDP, the multiplier effect, income expenditure functions, and consumption functions. The student did well on understanding how to compute the consumption function for individuals and the aggregate function but struggled to see the connection between that, the income-expenditure function and GDP. I think that after working through a few more problems, she will start to see the connection.

Today we continued to go over financial markets. We discussed debt, equity, and leverage and did an example problem calculating risk and rate of return. We went over moral hazard and how it relates to a limited liability company. I explained how savings function in open and closed economies with and without governments. We also reviewed the current account, its components, and how it relates to savings. Finally we discussed the loanable funds market, both domestically and globally.

For both 3/25 and 3/27, we covered the student's chapter 4 and 5 homework and review, specifically targeting equilibrium as well as taxes and subsidies. Here again we worked with total costs, average costs, and marginal costs, and manipulating those to get the answer we wanted. We also worked on general equilibrium for aggregate demand and aggregate supply. The student had an exam on 3/28, and I feel he went in fairly well-prepared.

We covered monetary policy today, from the basics of the Fed to how it graphically and mathematically affects the economy and how it fits into Keynesian economics. I have noticed that the student is really improving with every session and seems to have a better understanding of the material after we meet. He has an exam on Thursday so it will be a good indicator of how well he understands what we go over. I had no concerns from this session.

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Nayiri in San Francisco-Bay Area, CA
In this session, the student and I covered the business cycle in depth and also discussed the money multiplier effect. We left off about halfway into topic 10 of her textbook, which put her slightly ahead of her lectures. Next time we will continue with the more mathematical concepts in the money multiplier effect. The student also had her midterm results in which she was almost one standard deviation ahead of the curve (very good).
