My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

Connecting with an instructor who is experienced working with students who struggle with executive function can give them guidance and practice with techniques to develop these skills.

Students of all ages can be affected by executive function difficulties at any stage of their education. While many students who have been diagnosed with ADHD also commonly have executive function challenges, there are just as many students without ADHD who struggle with them. If your student has been struggling in school with executive function, Salt Lake City tutoring for students who struggle with executive function can help alleviate its effects on their academic performance.

What topics can be covered when working with a Salt Lake City tutor near me for students who struggle with executive function?

Salt Lake City tutors for students who struggle with executive function can take many factors into consideration when planning executive function lessons for your student. Tutors can use your student's IEP or 504 Plan to help them get a better idea of your student's personal strengths and challenges.

The extra support offered by an instructor can act as a supplement to in-school academics, leading to a more thorough grasp of the skills that are essential for strong executive functioning skills, such as practicing with self-discipline and managing emotions. Students who struggle with executive function frequently experience issues in the classroom like interrupting the teacher or acting out during lessons, and the consequences of these types of behaviors can give them a negative perspective of school.

Assistance from a tutor can help your child develop their organizational, sequential, and behavioral skills and showcase that school can be a positive and fun experience.

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Elnora in Salt Lake City, UT
The student and I reviewed two sample question sets involving multiple choice questions focused on the loanable funds market, the supply (related to savings) and demand (related to investment) of funds, factors that influence and shift supply and demand of loanable funds, the "types" of economic resources (e.g. physical, human, and natural), technological innovation concentration, and the application of the rule of 70. I also forwarded him a resource that provided detailed factors and examples influencing the supply and demand of loanable funds.

We finished his review for his Thursday's test. The student worked through his chapter 7 accounting homework over petty cash funds. He was not struggling as much as he needed the push to get the work done. He wants to do well on test. I left him with two elasticity problems. He made a 98 on his accounting homework. He finished the homework and also worked through his review.

I covered international trade and the indifference curves. The student was comfortable with the material that was reviewed. I used a lot of graphs to show her the concepts and some practice exams to help her understand them. The student said she feels more comfortable with my teaching.

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Jonathan in Salt Lake City, UT
The student and I worked today on his final review sheet. We started with the very basics of microeconomic theory: marginal cost versus marginal benefit. From there we easily transitioned into many other topics. I am not going to list them in detail as we literally went down the review sheet one by one, covering fully topics 1, 2, and 3. This covered the short and long-run decision making practices of a firm in a market of perfect competition as well as some more basic underlying principles. We stopped there for the day, and are going to pick up tomorrow with imperfect competition and monopolies. He was very honest about not remembering some of the earlier parts of the class, which makes it all the more important that we went over them today. I look forward to meeting with him tomorrow night to continue with his preparation for his final.

We went over a practice midterm test. The student's midterm is coming up Saturday, so we went through all the practice questions on one of the set of sample questions her professor gave. She seems to be getting the hang of most of the concepts. We spent most time on opportunity cost and production possibilities frontiers, which she wasn't too familiar with. She's going to do some more practice problems and we'll discuss any issues she had when we meet Friday, the day before her midterm.

We reviewed the student's strategy connect homework that was over the course of four chapters. He did a great job on the homework and applying these concepts to real-world applications. He is continuing to improve with each session. He currently has a 90% in this class. We will need to focus a little more on the financial planning class as he currently has a 73% in. As time goes on, we will be able to bump that grade.
