My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

The student and I spent our session going over an outline for her report due at the end of the week. We will meet again tomorrow to go over some homework problems.

We discussed the effects of the unemployment rate in Spain, what kind of unemployment it is, what happens graphically in a recession, and how it relates to the inflation rate. The article that the student is working off of does not cover Spain's inflation rate, so we thought she should look for one that will include information about that as well. For next session, I asked that she look back through the one test she has taken, as well as the material she has covered, and come prepared with questions as to what concepts I can help with. We went over a couple, but since it is the beginning of the year, I want to make sure she has a solid foundation on the beginning concepts.

Today the student and I covered a lot of material in a short amount of time - she found the D|EAD C|OLR mnemonic that we discussed last session (debits: expenses assets dividends/ credits: owner's equity liabilities revenues) to be very helpful for remembering the different journal entries. In this session, we went over some of the quiz questions regarding classification of operating vs. non-operating expenses, LIFO vs. FIFO, non-current assets, etc. We also covered the behavior of depreciation expense and accumulated depreciation. On Wednesday, we are going to cover the statement of cash flows and their classification and go over some more quiz questions.
