My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Rob in Richmond, VA
The student and I covered accounting for bonds. He had a number of problems that he wanted to cover from his homework assignments. Overall, I think he's got a good hold of the journal entries. We will meet again next week.

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Shelby in Richmond, VA
This session was more productive than the last session. The student and I focused on property plant and equipment and depreciation (straight line and double declining balance methods + associated schedules) and capitalization versus expensing of renovations and repairs. Although the double declining balance method gave us some troubles, we made a lot of progress with the material! We went through a fairly comprehensive problem in the book - working through the journal entries for all the transactions. I am going to give the student some additional problems related to the bond valuation that we struggled with previously so he can get more practice and look forward to getting though even more material on Wednesday.

We covered pension plans briefly at the end of our session. We also reviewed deferred tax assets and deferred tax liabilities. The student seemed challenged most with reconciling the differences between the book income and taxable income. However, he definitely improved over the course of the session and seemed to show a better understanding for the material.
