My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Elnora in Raleigh-Durham, NC
The student and I continued to work through Chapter 7, and reviewed the concepts related to consumer surplus and then producer surplus. He was able to understand the concepts through both calculations (the differences in prices "charged" and the price a buyer is willing to pay or the price/cost a seller is willing to accept) and graphs. We also reviewed information that formed the conclusion that the equilibrium point (in a free market) creates the maximum or optimal total surplus and maximum efficiency.

We reviewed the student's statistics homework. The topics were very basic - mean, median, standard deviation, variance. She went through her homework problems, and then we browsed through the chapter to go over things she had questions about. I explained the summation in the formula for variance, and we practiced calculating standard deviation and variance. She seems to grasp the formulas and how to apply them; she's not too worried about this class.

This evening, the student and I went over his Economics Homework #3, which covered, costs and profits, marginal revenue, marginal cost, profit, total cost, total profit, average total cost, efficient level of output, and elastic demand curves. Together, we reviewed the homework, and the student was able to understand the concepts. He came up with the answers on his own, and I asked him to explain his answers. He was able to provide the correct and clear explanation. He has an exam coming up next Wednesday. He will create a cheat sheet on Saturday and begin the practice exam that his professor posted on blackboard. Overall, the student understands the concepts very well.

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Zachary in Raleigh-Durham, NC
We reviewed the financial concept of time value of money, more in depth than we did last session. We went over how to properly use the financial calculator and what each individual button means and how to calculate those variables. We then proceeded to retake a quiz, and I assisted the student throughout the quiz. He understood the material much more than the first time around. He improved his score to an 86 on the quiz. We went over what we have coming up and how to best attack the remaining work for the week.
