My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

Executive function is a broad term that covers the self-regulation system of the brain. Seeking the help of an educator who is experienced in assisting learners with executive function struggles can provide your family member with the support they need to boost their skills.

Those who have executive function troubles frequently struggle in three main areas: inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, and working memory. When people struggle in these areas, it impacts them not just in school, but in their everyday life as well. Difficulty with executive function can become evident at any stage in a student's education. If your learner is beginning to show signs of executive function struggles, working with Oklahoma City tutors for students who struggle with executive function can help them to not let it negatively impact their education.

What skills will be covered by an Oklahoma City tutor near me for students who struggle with executive function?

Students with executive function struggles are often evaluated and given a learning plan that works for their needs. Your learner's instructor can take their 504 plan or IEP into account when designing their sessions. Mentors can even create a new customized plan that caters to your learner's preferences and goals. Oklahoma City tutors for students who struggle with executive function can also use customized materials to help your student. For instance, if they are more of a visual learner who struggles with organization, their educator can use color-coded labels to keep things like textbooks and notebooks in order.

What benefits can Oklahoma City tutors for students who struggle with executive function offer?

There are so many ways in which private instruction can benefit your student. For example, educators can help your child explore ways to build flexible thinking skills. Your child can also make up rules for games, which can help them understand that there is more than one way to do things. Students can gain an improved working memory as well, through their mentor helping them form associations that connect different details to make them more memorable. These are just a few of the many advantages one-on-one instruction has to offer.

It is important for parents to learn to model strategies for planning and organization at home so their student can get the practice they require. Session summaries by Executive Functioning tutors

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Elnora in Oklahoma City, OK
The student and I had a great initial session! We reviewed a study guide that consisted of a series of both micro- and macro-economic questions. To summarize several concepts, questions included the following: the concept of micro- and macroeconomics, scarcity, and trade-offs; positive vs. normative statements; opportunity costs; changes in quantity supplied/demanded vs. changes in supply & demand, and the "factors" of influence creating the latter (and shifts in the curves); price ceilings and floors; real vs. nominal GDP, as well as per capital GDP and the average living standard; unemployment and definitions of the four types; and inflation (measuring overall level of prices) and the CPI. I am going to forward several helpful resources for her continued reference and studying.

We worked on word problems and multiple-choice strategies for the student's upcoming exam, mostly on consumer and producer surpluses, price elasticity of demand and supply, and normal/ inferior/ complement/ substitute goods. I helped her develop a strategy on how to effectively use and show work while working with the demand-supply schedule, which is essential to working with the intuition that her course emphasizes. I left her with a practice idea of taking the problems her professor issued and trying to do problems in reverse, i.e. figuring out market impacts of price decreases in a demand or supply schedule as well as the impact of a price increase.

The concepts that the student and I covered today were subsidies, taxes, tariffs, deadweight loss, producer surplus, consumer surplus, price ceiling, quantity demanded/ supplied/ traded, and market equilibriums. She seems to understand the basic microeconomic concept. Her attitude was always a positive one while the material was reviewed. She worked on homework #2 for her economics class and was able to cover most of the material. There were two questions left for her to work on her own based on the practice we reviewed together.

The student and I discussed social benefit vs social cost, how to tell if a good is private or public, and minimizing average cost. The rest of the online prior tests are good for extra practice. She has a good attitude towards the material. A win from this session was learning how to tell whether a good should be private or public.

We reviewed the student's quiz for his financial planning class that was about insurance and making sure a client has the proper insurance coverage. He did okay on the quiz and took his time to make sure he understood each question. We then moved on to a remaining portion he had on his assignment for his strategy class. It included a detailed assignment around a case study for a company. He did a great job at reading through the material and making sure he knew what the assignment was asking before proceeding with the questions.
