My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Elnora in Ann Arbor, MI
Today, the student completed an assessment related to Chapters 9 and 10 in her textbook, and the topics of focus included those related to farming, sustainability (and best soil "types"), erosion concerns and methods of prevention, etc. She did a good job given the time constraints that were associated with the assessment (as set by her professor). She also completed her first discussion question for her science class, and performed well in addressing questions related to GMOs. She completed a few follow up posts related to a discussion in her leadership course. In addition, I assisted in the review of the paper requirements for her leadership course and provided a plan of addressing the main points of the paper in order to meet the page requirement. She is waiting from her professor to receive the rubric.

Today we practiced following through on things we said we'd do. We continued work on our Walking Dead card game project and discussed a graded history test from last week. We talked about how we want to move forward with History, what we want to read next and how we are going to integrate current events into class. Giving him some input on how things are done seems to help motivation a bit.

Today the student and I finished up some biology homework covering the Circulatory System, and did some Spanish worksheets covering verbs in the preterite tense. He doesn't seem to be struggling at all, but rather needs assistance talking through his work, and getting it double-checked for accuracy. He is very positive about all of his work! We discussed irregular verbs and the need to memorize their conjugated forms. Some homework got done, we solidified some concepts, and all went well!
