Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered her science, math, and English homework. I helped her make up a saying to remember the different scientific formulas. I also helped in making a sonnet in iambic pentameter."
"We spent today reviewing science concepts for the student's exam tomorrow. Specifically, we focused on phase changes, definitions, gas laws and converting temperatures. We were also able to do part of her homework packet, and she was able to answer it all on her own with me just encouraging her. She seems to have a good handle on the material. At the end of the session, she seemed really well prepared and even said that she feels really good about her test tomorrow."
"Today's session addressed study and organization skills, test prep, and writing. Specifically, the student and I reviewed the organization of his notebook. In the area of writing, we worked on the draft of a essay about careers. We work specifically on expanding her ideas, word choice, and minimally on punctuation. We prepared for our next session by identifying math skills requiring assistance. We will continue our work on solving equations with substitution and elimination in our next session,"
"In today's session, the student and I studied and went over his worksheet on algebra linear equations, which was for his Academic Decathlon class. He was once again very receptive to the tutoring."
"Last night, I began by checking the student's notes, agenda, and study log. She has been taking notes and writing in her agenda, which is good. Together, we created a study log schedule to help her establish a routine for 3 hours of the day outside of school. Every morning after breakfast, she should read her book. Every evening after dinner, she needs to spend 20-30 minutes on each subject, and at around 7 every night, she will add something to her story, writing for 10 minutes. After working on her schedule, I helped her review and improve on her LA notes. She needed to re-read the in-class assignment and answer some questions about the text. We then did some Science HW and wrote for 10 minutes."
"On Tuesday, the student and I went over his math homework, which was only a half sheet of practice problems. He managed to do all the problems within the time of the session which is a big win for him! This is a good sign that he's working faster and more efficiently than before. This also leads me to believe that he is thinking and processing problems faster, which means he is learning! Toward the end of the session, we reviewed math facts, which also seem to be improving slowly. Overall, it was a very successful session!"
