For vocabulary, I defined several words for her and went over a few strategies. She said that she best remembers by making flash cards, so I asked her to do that. I read some timed writing samples from her schoolwork and determined that we will have to work on organization. I also asked her to elaborate on her ideas a little more. I hope that it was informative for her and that she could relate to me due to our similar personalities.

Next week we will look at reading passages and strategies for those questions.

The student and I spent this session going through his homework, which he did a good job on, and looking at some math topics that he had struggled with on a previous test. We spent the majority of the time looking at functions and function problems, with algebraic equations, graphs, and tables. He did a good job with many of these problems and picking up on the material. We finished off with a grammar topic talking about verb tense.
