"We focused on verbs with stem spelling changes in different tenses, mostly preterite and imperfect tenses. We then wrote out many sentences using stem changing verbs."
"I had made a "quiz" with sentences that contained a blank, a photo to help give an idea what the sentence was about, and a list of six verbs. The student's job was to fill in the blanks with the verb in the "yo" form, the first person singular form. As such, he needed to understand the meaning of the sentence, decide which verb to use, and then put it into the 1st person singular. We also went over part of his stack of notes from his different classes which meant going over vocabulary, uses and meanings of words, and more conjugations. He has an app on his iPad that allows him to translate words from one language to the other. The problem is that the app does not do well with some complex grammatical sentence structures and slang. It's a beautiful teaching tool, however, because he tries to form the sentence on his own but when he feels the translation is faulty he can show it to me and we can talk about the intricacies of starting to come to grips with a foreign language. I tell him that is how you learn another language--inevitably one learns about one's native tongue and about language in general."
"Today we continued to review the weather and the seasons, dates, colors, and saber and conocer. We focused primarily on conversational review."
