Compared to many other physics students, she has an unusually good grasp of which trigonometric function (sin, cos) to use for each aspect of the problem."
"We started the day off with precalc and inverse functions of trigonometric functions. Though the student said she was confused by them, I feel that she was very confident by the end of the session. In physics, we discussed forces. Though her class hasn't talked about friction yet, we briefly went over friction as well."
"Today, we worked on both linear momentum and angular momentum conservation, the moment of rotational inertia, and power. Also, we looked at some of the gravitational values which were found since 1789, and we talked about where dark matter and dark energy come from."
"Today's session was about the application of first and second derivatives. I explained to the student how to calculate the second derivative of a function. He felt confident on how to do it. I worked with him some problems. He understood the procedure and tried to solve some problems by himself. He completed them correctly, but he was confused with the analysis of the results. I used a graphing app to show him what is the graph of a function and its derivatives. After this, he got it. He tried some other problems, and solved them doing the analysis in the right way. He has homework to practice this topic."
"Tonight the student and I went over magnetic field and magnetic force problems from her physics class. By the end of the session, she was able to solve most problems with minimal assistance from me, and seems well prepared for next week's test on the topic."
