The student and I worked on math and science review for her test tomorrow.  We started brainstorming and talking about the poem she has to write for humanities.  She was reluctant to really get started on it, though, so we will work on that during our entire next session.  She did have some ideas about how she wanted to get started with the poem, which she will work on before our next meeting.

The student's exam is this Wednesday. We first went through questions in chapter 9, reviewing glycolysis, oxidative phosphorylation, the citric acid cycle, and the electron transport chain and ATP synthesis. Next,  he answered questions from chapter 8, and he got every answer correct, with a little help and reductive logic to eliminate some false answers. The student said he feels he has a clearer grasp on the concepts, where before he felt lost in them all. Hopefully our work will pay off on the exam. He will be memorizing sequences in key reactions such as glycolysis, and reviewing concepts by going through the simple questions at the end of each section in the chapters on the exam.

Also expanded on some of the math knowledge necessary to be able to universally apply the law, specifically closed-loop integrals for a volume (and how using this approach can be handy when things are non-uniform or non-symmetric).

I assisted the student with a few questions he had for a project he had due on the differences, comparing benefits and cons of defined contribution plans vs. defined benefit plans. He did a great job at finding reliable sources, organizing his thoughts and articulating those in a research paper format. We then retook a quiz he had due, scoring slightly better than last time. Still need to just hammer down on the equations and then he will be golden.
