How can Algebra tutoring help you?

Algebra is an important mathematical concept that includes the study of things like solving literal equations, systems of inequalities, and graphing. In the state of Washington, students are tested on their algebraic knowledge by three state mandated standardized exams. Those are the Smarter Balanced, Measurement of Student Progress (MSP), and the End-of-Course (EOC) exams. If you're currently taking an algebra course and struggling, or getting ready to take one of those standardized exams, one great way to get some extra help with your work is to sign up to work with a private tutor. If that sounds helpful to you, call us today. Varsity Tutors will match you with an algebra tutor in Everett, WA, who might help you meet and then surpass your goals in the field of algebra.

When you sign up to work with a private tutor, you'll gain access to a professional educator who is an expert in the field of algebra. That access means that you'll always have someone to ask your questions to and that you'll be able to get answers to those questions right away. This can be a huge time-saver for you over having to find that information on your own. Also, your tutor will work with you to first identify your weaknesses and then develop a targeted study plan designed to try to help you overcome those problem areas. These are just a few of the many things that together make working with a private tutor such a uniquely rewarding addition to your learning process. Through all of this, you'll find that a skilled algebra tutor in Everett might increase your motivation to succeed, helping to make algebra fun again for you.

Worked on homework for direct variation; re-covered what the teacher had gone over in class, as he was still somewhat unclear on it. By halfway done with the assignment he'd gotten it down pretty well. Did the next day's homework as well, getting ahead of schedule.

We worked on his homework for Tuesday. The first section was on maximizing/minimizing quadratic functions. He understood the problems graphically but had difficulty mastering the algebraic techniques for solving them based on what format they were written in. The second section was mostly solving equations for x and checking that the solutions worked when plugged back in. He was fine with that section we just had to talk about why some solutions wouldn't work if you plugged them back in.

Today we completed another assignment, and continued working on algebraic inequalities. There were a series of word problems that I had to work with the student through. He continues to show good progress in processing new procedures and strategies in algebra, including a personal challenge for him: the distributive property.

We reviewed factoring today in preparation for a potential pop quiz in class this afternoon. We started by factoring polynomials of the form ax2 + bx + c when a equals 1. We then moved to factoring polynomials of the same form when a does not equal 1. The student did really well when the numbers were relatively simple. We did a few examples with larger numbers. At the end of the session, we reviewed the different types of expressions she could encounter and the approach for each type.
