We reviewed the student's assessment test vocab words and spelling. I emphasized the importance of doing her assignments prior to our tutoring sessions, and we have put the diagnostic in her planner so it will be ready for next time. With the second student, we began the lesson by reviewing her spelling and vocab words as well. Afterwards, I gave her a writing assignment and worked with her to create a thorough outline. Afterwards, I gave her a new assignment and asked her to make an outline with a time limit. She did very well, and with a few adjustments she had a solid outline.

Today was the last session before summer break with the student. So, I wanted to practice everything we've worked on so far. Most of the session was in conversation and looking back at some of the story panels we worked on. I had her elaborate more, using the new verbs, adverbs, and adjectives that we've been working on.

The student and I worked only on his English essay today. He is definitely learning to write more appropriately and using more sophisticated words/syntax. The essay has been worked through hardcore by him and I. The conclusion paragraph remains to be written. We highlighted the gist of it in bullet form and now it just has to be written.

The student now has a study guide for her English final exam. Since we are meeting twice before the exam, we've decided to divide our time between the two areas she needs the most help with: literary terms and literature review (of Julius Caesar and A Tale of Two Cities). We spent all of this session on literary terms, creating a list with definitions and examples for her to study.

Today we worked on the days of the week and the months. I had the student write out all of the days of the week, I helped him spell them, and had him repeat it a few times. We also worked on rhyming words and briefly talked about the season. We finished reading the Thomas book.
