Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Worked extensively on geometry problems. Taught rules of semi-formal proofs and covered when to use slope/midpoint/line formulas."
"We began with math. We discussed some of the student's work and reviewed his math assignment on percents due on Friday. After some initial confusion about how to convert a percent to a decimal, he breezed through his homework rather easily, which was certainly encouraging to see. We then discussed his science fair project. We talked about how his group would go about making measurements of heart rate and went over what games he and his group mates want to use. Finally, we discussed his English homework, and reviewed for his quiz on Friday on quotation. He did well with these topics, but I left him with more review, so he could become as comfortable as possible with the nuances of the subject."
"With Student 1, we practiced simplifying polynomials, factoring, and foiling. With Student 2, we practiced more math word problems, this time with minimal assistance from me."
"I gave some extra problems to the student today to practice the identities. We worked on Trigonometric functions, graphing all the six trig functions and proving identities."
"Today we went over volumes of a cone and the volumes of spheres. We also took it a step further by figuring out the radius or height of an object when we only know the volume. Also, I am happy to report that the student earned an 87% on his last test, which is a great improvement over his previous scores. We are starting to see some great growth from the time we started until now."
"Angles were covered and the student is understanding information fast; he just needs to practice extra materials. Attitude towards work was good and he focused. We also worked on process of elimination and careful review of materials. The student is starting to understand his materials/ concepts faster. He just needs to practice and will be able to bring home good grades."
